Our team of dedicated and professional early childhood educators is committed to supporting each child as an individual in their learning and development journey. Our team is highly qualified with Bachelor and Diploma trained early childhood educators running all programs. Some of our staff members have worked at Dame Nellie Melba Kindergarten over 10 years.

Lily is passionate about play based learning and allowing children the opportunity to develop their own sense of self and capabilities as members of our community. Lily has a strong passion for supporting diversity and equity within her early learning philosophy and brings this understanding of individual needs to her program with joy and enthusiasm. Lily believes that nature-based programs and allowing children to explore the natural environment and connect with nature, provides a solid foundation for children’s learning and understanding of the wider world around them.

 

Naomi

Naomi graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education in 2011.
Naomi believes DNMK’s philosophy and value placed on the outdoor environment and embedding sustainability into the programs matches her own philosophy and practice.
Nature-based learning is something that she is incredibly passionate about
and has seen the positive impact it has on children in that fundamental year before
school

Naomi believes that giving children time and space to be creative in the world around them helps develops essential skills. Above all, she values play-based learning; believing it to be the best tool we have to give children the greatest possible start to life at school.

 

Xiao Yu
Co-Educator 4-year-old Currawong (Tuesday and Thursday) Group

Xiao Yu has been working with children since 2011 and completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood in 2016.
Xiao Yu believes that each child has unique strengths, personalities and interests and enjoys supporting children to discover just what these are.
Xiao Yu has a strong interest in the arts and providing opportunities for children to express themselves through all mediums. She has been teaching a language program for several years and will be sharing this with the children at DNMK, teaching Mandarin Chinese to the groups she works with.

 

Sandra

Sandra moved to Australia from Mexico in 2012. She holds a Diploma of Children’s Services and has been part of the DNMK team since 2016. Sandra enjoys crafting with the children and supporting their developing independence. Sharing her language and culture via Spanish cooking experiences enhances the children’s understanding of various cultures.

 

Alba
Educator 4-year-old Currawong (Tuesday & Thursday) Group

Alba competed her Certificate 3 in Children’s Services in 2016 and joined the DNMK team in 2017. She also teaches Yoga and am passionate about supporting children to develop socially and emotionally. It is a great joy to spend time with the children at DNMK and help them learn and grow.

Jo has been at DNMK for past 12 years, with experience across both the 3 and 4-year-old streams.She holds a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services and is passionate about the kinder community and engaging with the children and their families.Jo brings a nurturing quality which is so important in helping children become self-assured and confident. Jo enjoys fostering children’s dramatic play and connecting with children through shared stories.

 

Jackie
Teacher 3-year-old Kookaburra (Tuesday & Thursday) Group

Jackie joined the DNMK team in 2017 and holds a Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Counselling. Via brief exposure in the child protection field she became interested in working within early childhood settings.
Jackie aims to have a program which is fun, engaging and motivating.Dance classes and yoga are incorporated into sessions to encourage free expression.

Jacqui
Breaks cover Educator (Tuesday & Thursday)

After a part-time job in a childcare service Jacqui completed her Diploma in Early Childhood. She worked for the City of Stonnington for 10 years. She enjoyed watching the children face challenges, develop and also working closely with families. After having her own children Jacqui worked at St Justin’s Primary School is assisting children with developmental needs and behavioural issues. She found spending one on one time with these struggling children satisfying. She is now back into early childhood and loving DNMK.

Tiana relocated to Australia from France where she
ran a Family Day Care facility for over 10 years.
Initially volunteering at DNMK in 2017 before joining the teaching team in 2018 after completing her Certificate Three is Children’s services.
Tiana enjoys sharing her French background with the children, incorporating language and culture into the program.
Tiana believes all children are ever surprising and we learn something new from them every day.

Gina has assisted in the running of the kinder collaboratively with the Committee of management and Team of Educators since 2007.
Her children graduated from DNMK and she enjoys being part of the Richmond community.
