Established in 1915 and set in a leafy green inner city oasis, Dame Nellie Melba Kindergarten (DNMK) provides a sessional and extended hours kindergarten experience for three, four and five year olds which is stimulating , nurturing, educational and fun!

As one of the first purpose-built kindergartens in Melbourne (with opera singer Dame Nellie Melba as patron), DNMK blends old-world charm with a progressive educational program that inspires and excites young minds, and lays the foundation for future learning.  DNMK provides two 3-4 year old groups, two 4-5 year old groups, an extended hours, 3-5 year old program and Playgroup and has over 100 families utilising the centre.

 DNMK understands that children take their play very seriously and that play is the way children learn.  The kindergarten programs acknowledge the uniqueness of each child, incorporates their individual interests and allows them to learn at their own pace.  Staff are committed to the happiness, development and education of the individual child and provide a safe and caring yet stimulating and challenging environment for children to explore and learn through play.
